On Empty

( We are currently going through the book God's Garden- this is the devotion we studied this week. If you want to purchase this book you will find it under our resource tab on our site!)

My husband recently ran out of gas while he was doing errands. It wouldn’t have been that big of a deal, but our daughter was having her birthday party in 15 minutes. He called me to get him, bring the gas can, and take him to the gas station. So, I did and on the way back I looked at his car and thought, “What a nice car he has, but it is useless without gas.” It could not be driven, it was “stuck there.” Do we always have a full tank; are we full enough of what we need?

Philippians 1: 9-11 “And this I pray that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; that ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God”. Ephesians 3: 16-17 “That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his spirit in the inner man: that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith: that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.”

The Lord is the only “Gasoline” we need. To be filled up with Him and His Holy Spirit is enough for us to “run” forever and never run out. When we are filled up then we are useful, because we are full of His love and strength and we can do anything.

Weekly Take Away:

What is YOUR tank level on? Are you on empty? A half a tank? Its so easy to get distracted in life and come to Jesus only when were in need. He designed us to be in relationship with Him and every relationship needs TIME TOGETHER!! So, this week check your “Level” and if your running low…FILL UP!!!
